To The Corner House, Colchester overnight accommodation where a warm welcome awaits you, a 15th century grade II listed townhouse, from £40 for a single and £50 for two per room per night, room only.

Located in the Dutch Quarter just off the High Street in the historical town, near to the shops, restaurants, The Castle, The Arts Centre and Mercury Theatre with a vibrant buzzing nightlife and only 10 mins walk from the bus and train stations. Multimap Link .

The Corner House has been awarded a Three diamond rating by the English Tourism Council of Quality Assurance. Rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, free wi fi available.

Cornerhouse Information for Access

We aim to cater as much as possible for the needs of visitors at Cornerhouse so please call for any information.

Arrival

There is a bus stop round the corner in North Station Road along level paths, with frequent buses. The main train station is 5 minutes away by car.

There is free car parking from 6pm to 8am Monday to Friday and free at weekends from 6pm Friday to 8am Monday in St Peters Street with low kerbs and a short gradient walk through the alley to the house. and there is additional residents parking in Northgate Street and St Peters St. with daily permits costing £1. The house is on the corner of Northgate street and West Stockwell Street.

You can (with help) unload at the front door outside the house. The door entrance is 62cms wide.

There is room for bikes in the courtyard (lockable) entrance down the LH side of the house. Guide dogs and dogs are welcome.

The house

Staff are on duty at all times. Guests are escorted to rooms and facilities explained.

The stairs and bedrooms are carpeted and there are 10 steps to the 1st floor with left hand wood grab and 10 steeper steps to the 2nd floor with right hand rail.

Upper guest bedrooms have en suite wc and basin. 1st floor double has ensuite shower, wc and basin, and there is a double next to the family bathroom with bath tub and shower over. There is no toilet downstairs.

Guests are welcome to use the washing and ironing facilities in the laundry room off the hall and iron in the kitchen.

The house is no smoking throughout.

Shops

There is a Spar convenience and cash machine round the corner in North Station Road with slight gradient over the bridge. The steep uphill walk to the High Street shops and restaurants’ is usually a 3-4 min walk.
